CHU reception staff will be happy to direct you to a specific department or service.

Numerous vending machines (food and drinks) are available across the 3 CHU sites.

You also have the option to eat at a cafeteria located on each site: Gabriel-Montpied site and Estaing site. Find the cafeteria opening hours here.

An ATM is available near the cafeteria at the Gabriel-Montpied site and in the main lobby of the Estaing site.

Here is the procedure to follow:

The CHU only accepts donations of new games, toys, and stuffed animals. Preferably small items, with a low market value (up to €20 maximum per item).

The Hospital can issue a receipt. To do so, please complete the form below by clicking on the “form” button. It is important, where possible, to attach an invoice.

Delivery can be made to the Pediatric Children’s Area; however, before doing so, please remember to contact the entertainment activities department by email or phone to arrange the appointment:

Each department, due to its specific requirements, sets visiting hours adapted to the care and treatments provided. For more information, please consult the page of the relevant department by clicking here.

Visits by children under the age of 15 are subject to prior authorization from the department.

A paid television service, telephone, and Wi‑Fi internet access are available during your hospital stay. This service is provided by the company Aklia (Hoppen Group). All relevant information is available at the company’s sales points, located in the reception halls of the Gabriel‑Montpied, Estaing, and Louise‑Michel sites.

You also have the option of being contacted free of charge on the room’s landline telephone. Your caller must dial 04 73 750 750, then follow the instructions of the automated voice service (press 1 to reach the switchboard, press 2 to reach a patient room).

Relatives and loved ones are welcome within the premises of Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital (CHU).

Whenever possible, one accompanying person may be authorized to stay with the patient, both during the day and at night, subject to approval by the ward manager.

Independent accommodation facilities are also available for families, close to the Gabriel-Montpied and Estaing sites.

Contacting a patient by mail

Please address your mail to the patient, indicating the following on the envelope:

The law of March 4, 2002 allows you to freely appoint, in writing, a person of your choice known as a “trusted person”.

Before applying, please note that the following internship requests cannot be accepted:

  • Work experience placements that are part of the school curriculum for students in Year 9 (except priority education areas) and Year 10;
  • Observation internships;
  • Internships linked to competitive exam preparation;
  • Workplace assessment internships (EMT);
  • Apprenticeships or work-study internships.

Apply for an internship opportunity using the dedicated application form or by email:

Please send your application at least two months before the start of your internship. It must include a CV and a cover letter which must specify:

  • Your email address;
  • The desired internship dates. If accepted, the CHU reserves the right to adjust these dates depending on departmental capacity, in agreement with the intern and their home institution;
  • Your level of education;
  • The name of the qualification you are preparing for;
  • The name and contact details of your educational institution, with which the CHU must enter into a formal agreement, as well as the name of the contact person for administrative matters.

Without this agreement signed by all parties involved (your institution, yourself, and the CHU), you will not be allowed to begin your internship at our hospital.
