Children and adolescents who are hospitalized can continue their education. In coordination with their regular school, they receive support from teachers assigned to the Estaing site by the French Ministry of Education. The school service provides lessons, offers home schooling during recovery if needed, and can organize exams within the hospital when necessary.
Additionally, for children who must remain in bed, the interactive classroom is equipped with tablets that allow lessons in various subjects to be conducted remotely. This interactive tool also enables bedridden children to watch live broadcasts of performances held in the children’s area.

Several associations are present at the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital (CHU).
You can find a list of these organizations and their contact details on the hospital’s website to reach out to them directly.
Some of these associations hold regular office hours within the hospital, in the “Support & Information – Help for Patients and Families” areas.
These spaces are located at:
- Gabriel-Montpied site: in an office located in the main lobby, near the reception desk.
- Estaing site: in the associations’ kiosk, next to the admissions office and telephone service.
- Louise-Michel site: a documentation stand is available for patients, residents, and families in the administration hall.

For several years now, ethical reflection has been underway regarding healthcare, hospital management of patients, end-of-life issues, organ donation, and the ethical and deontological questions that may arise for healthcare professionals.
Within the University Hospital (CHU), there is an ethics committee — the Clermont-Ferrand Ethical Reflection Group (Groupe de Réflexion Éthique Clermontois – GREC), which is part of the Ethical Reflection Space of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (EREARA). Its missions are:
- To respond to ethical questions encountered within the institution,
- To raise awareness among healthcare professionals about ethical reflection and the meaning of care,
- To organize public debates, discussions with hospital staff, and meetings between professionals from the medical, legal, and psychological fields,
- To disseminate reflections, opinions, and guidance on specific topics (organ donation, advance directives, trusted persons, secularism in hospitals, dignity and respect in care, family involvement, professional confidentiality, etc.).
This multidisciplinary group includes user representatives, nurses, healthcare managers, midwives, physicians, and representatives of various faiths. The GREC does not serve as an expert body for specific cases but aims to foster dialogue, support healthcare teams, and guide them toward ethical solutions. All questions are discussed during GREC plenary meetings.

It is open to everyone — staff and users of the institution — and includes general practitioners, caregivers, and patients' relatives.
In accordance with the law of December 9, 1905, and the Charter of the Hospitalized Patient (circular dated May 6, 1995), "healthcare institutions must respect the beliefs and convictions of the individuals they admit. Patients must be able, as far as possible, to follow the precepts of their religion (such as prayer, the presence of a minister of their faith, dietary requirements, freedom of action and expression, etc.). These rights must be exercised with respect for the freedom of others.
