The CHU childcare center works to support staff members who need childcare for their young children, helping them balance family life and professional life.
The CHU childcare center is a service attached to the Human Resources Department, operating under the authority of the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer.
Childcare places are available to children aged from 10 weeks to 4 years whose one of the parents is a hospital staff member employed by the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital, regardless of the family’s place of residence. The childcare center welcomes new families throughout the year.
Its operating and organizational rules are governed by Decree No. 2000-762 of August 1, 2000, as amended by Decree No. 2007-230 of February 20, 2007, and Decree No. 2010-613 of June 7, 2010, relating to childcare facilities and services for children under six years of age. Since September 2, 2013, the CHU has been partnered with the Caisse d’Allocations Familiales of the Puy-de-Dôme through a contractual agreement in accordance with Circular Letter No. 2011-105 of June 29, 2011, concerning the Single Service Benefit (Prestation de Service Unique).
The team consists of qualified staff:
- The Director (Midwife and Childcare Nurse) and her two deputy directors, who are Childcare Nurses, oversee parent reception, monitor each child throughout the four-year period, and supervise the staff.
- The two Early Childhood Educators (ECE), who also act as deputy directors, are responsible for the educational projects.
- Childcare Assistants (Auxiliary Nurses) are assigned as reference caregivers for groups of children.
- Hospital Service Assistants and the laundry attendant ensure the comfort and cleanliness of the living spaces.
- The cooks prepare meals adapted to the children’s needs. All four daily meals are provided on site (breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and supper).
- A contracted pediatrician ensures the mandatory medical follow-up of the children, including the admission medical examination and annual check-ups.
With a constant focus on providing high-quality care, all childcare center professionals regularly update their knowledge and skills in the field of early childhood education.
- ensure the child’s emotional and physical safety
- support the child’s development towards independence
- respect each child’s pace and individuality
- provide an environment that encourages socialization
- support parenting roles
From the fourth month of pregnancy, parents are required to schedule an appointment with a childcare nurse or an early childhood educator at the childcare center by calling 04 73 75 11 57. During this pre-registration appointment, the family’s needs are formally assessed.
Each childcare request submitted by parents is considered with the utmost care.
During the pre-registration interview, the different types of contracts are presented in order to determine the one that best meets the family’s needs.
Four placement allocation committees are held each year to carefully review parents’ pre-registration applications. These committees take into account the number of available places and family situations.
A response is sent to families within 15 days following the allocation committee meeting.
In the case of a favorable response, a registration appointment is scheduled to prepare for the child’s and the family’s arrival: adaptation period, visit of the childcare unit, medical examination, etc.
