The HOURAA Health Cooperation Group brings together the four University Hospital Centers of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region: the CHUs of Clermont-Ferrand, Grenoble Alpes, Lyon and Saint-Etienne. These four institutions collectively represent 22 hospital sites, 11,150 beds and places, 48,000 professionals, and more than 5,200 scientific publications.

The HOURAA GCS (Health Cooperation Group) has the primary mission of fostering cooperation between the four CHUs, as well as with medical faculties across the region, in order to define and implement joint specific actions in the fields of research, teaching, and healthcare, in collaboration with the Regional Health Agency.

Among the achievements led by the HOURAA GCS, the following can be highlighted:

  • The DataHubHouraa (D2H) project, which aims to create a Regional Health Data Hub. This project was selected as part of the BPI France call for projects aimed at establishing health data warehouses.

  • The selection by the Regional Health Agency of the project carried out by the HOURAA GCS, in collaboration with a group of palliative care professionals, to establish the regional palliative care coordination unit for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

  • The participation of the four CHUs, coordinated by the HOURAA GCS, in consultations with the Regional Health Agency concerning both the revision of the regional health plan and the regional implementation of the national plans for the collection and transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells, as well as organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

Governance of the GCS HOURAA

The General Assembly determines the strategic directions of the GCS HOURAA. It is composed of the General Directors, Presidents of the Medical Ethics Committees (CME), and Deans of the Health Faculties (UFR) from the four University Hospitals (CHU).

The GCS HOURAA is structured into four thematic committees, each corresponding to the strategic axes of the group, and each led by a member institution.

The GCS HOURAA is managed by an elected administrator, chosen by the General Assembly for a three-year term. The administrator proposes the strategic direction of the Group, prepares and implements the decisions of the General Assembly, and serves as the legal representative of the Group. Raymond LE MOIGN, General Director of the Hospices Civils de Lyon, has been the Administrator of the GCS HOURAA since February 20, 2024.

The Administrator is supported in their duties by a General Delegate. Audrey SOKOLO has held this position since November 1, 2023.
