On the occasion of World Heart Day, Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital (CHU de Clermont-Ferrand) is organizing an information, awareness, and heart failure screening day on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Gabriel-Montpied Hospital site.
Understanding Heart Failure Better
Heart failure affects several hundred thousand people in France. Often progressive in nature, it can manifest through unusual shortness of breath, persistent fatigue, reduced exercise capacity, or swelling of the lower limbs.
Population ageing and the growing prevalence of cardiovascular diseases make it essential to develop prevention and early detection initiatives aimed at the general public.
An Awareness Day Open to Everyone
Throughout the day, medical and allied health professionals from Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital (CHU) will welcome visitors to a dedicated area in order to:
- provide information on the risk factors and symptoms of heart failure;
- answer questions from the public;
- promote good practices for cardiovascular disease prevention.
A conference roundtable open to the public will also take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the amphitheater on the first floor of the Gabriel-Montpied site.
Targeted Screening for People at Risk
As part of this event, targeted screening will be offered to individuals who are:
- aged 60 years and over;
- without a known heart condition;
- not receiving regular cardiology follow-up care.
This screening pathway, conducted by specialized healthcare professionals, is designed to identify at an early stage any situations requiring further medical evaluation. As the number of places is limited to 40 participants, prior registration is mandatory.
